Welcome !
(June 15th, 2010 by Jim)Welcome to Pretty Good Consulting.
My good friend, Carol Peeples of the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition, and I just presented a session on “Getting People with Criminal Records Back to Work” for the Rocky Mountain Workforce Development Association Conference. We had a great crowd and we all earned a lot about the impediments facing people who are trying to turn their lives around. Did you know that not having a job can be a technical parole violation? What a Catch-22 we have set up for these folks. It has to be HR that brings a more enlightened view to corporate hiring procedures.
I’m delighted to building a new course, Personal and Organizational Innovation, for the School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois. This cohort is a great group of highly experienced professionals, who are completing their Master’s degrees. This will be an eight week course kicking off in late August.
I’m working with the Colorado SHRM (COSHRM) to develop a statewide Workforce Readiness project for our 6 SHRM Chapters. For CHRA, the Denver SHRM chapter, we’re kicking off our Workforce Readiness Committee. Let me know if you are interested in becoming part of that effort.
So, although the calendar is busy, it’s not full.
I’d be delighted to be able to talk with you about any performance improvement needs that you might have.
Give me a call or send an email.
Jim
